Alts and adds to a ten-terrace row in Surry Hills. We love so many of the proposed moves to the original residences which seek to retain features and improve access to light and air – but we’re most excited about the proposed laneway dwellings. We have designed these from a sensitive, sustainable and robust palette of earth and aluminium, perforated and panelled against the masonry to offset its solidity with inset glazing that pivots on both axes. With parapets that raise to conceal beds to spill foliage, these dwellings are designed to provide character to a dilapidated laneway, articulating a new elevation that gestures to the adjacent parkland
